Explosion at Petro Star 6/27 pm

Valdez, AK-Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded to a reported explosion and fire at the Petro Star Refinery on Dayville Road

At approximately 5:04 p.m. Vladez Dispatch received reports of an explosion and fire at the Petro Star Refinery located at 2501 Dayville Road.

Emergency responders arrived on scene at approximately 5:10 p.m. and discovered an active fire involving a tanker truck inside the loading area of Petro Star Refinery. The fire was contained to the tanker truck and rack of the loading area.

Fire Cheif Raymor contacted Alyeska Pipeline Service Company Fire & Rescue requesting mutual aid and two trucks were dispatched to assist with firefighting efforts.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. traffic along Dayville Road reopened as Fire Department personnel deemed that fire under control. Units cleared the scene at 7:33 p,m..

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
