Parks and Rec-Clean Up Day and More

  • Join us during our annual Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 21st, from 9:00am – 2:00pm. Yellow ALPAR (Alaskans for Litter Prevention & Recycling) bags will be available at the Woodman Recreation Center, so fill ‘em then leave them along the curb, and the City will pick them up! Registration opens today. We hope to see you out there helping keep Valdez beautiful!
  • Mighty Mites is taking a break this summer to make way for Summer Fun camps! The last day for Mighty Mites this spring is Wednesday, May 25th. Starting on Monday, June 6th, join us for Tot Gym at the Hermon Hutchens Elementary! Tot Gym will be happening every Monday & Wednesday, 10:00AM – 12:00PM, during the months of June and July. Swing by and let your littles get their wiggles out and have a great time with a variety of fun toys and gym equipment!
  • Kids’ Summer Fun Day Camp registration opens Today (Monday, May 9), at 10:00AM. View the program schedule and register online at https://bit.ly/3LI0bMh. We’ve got some exciting things planned out for all the kids, so be sure and sign up fast before all the slots are gone!
  • Ready, Aim, and release your excitement for Open Archery! In partnership with the PWSC Archery Club, PRCS invites you to come shoot your shot on Tuesdays & Thursdays, May 5th – 26th, from 7:00PM – 8:30PM. It’s open to ages 7+, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • This week’s Fab Fridays (May 13th) is at the Recreation Center. This program is intended for grades K-4 and is free, so if you’re looking for something for the kiddos to do when they get out of school early on Fridays then look no further for fun and games!   • Registration for Swim Lessons in the month of June will open May 23rd. Space is limited, so be sure to register fast by visiting www.valdezak.gov/register.
  • Come check out all the fun programs happening at the Valdez Consortium Library this week! Lego My Library is Wednesday the 11th from 3:30pm-4:30pm, on Thursday you can check out ABC123 Storytime from 11:15am-Noon, and Friday is Preschool Storytime from 11:15am-12:15pm.   • Middle School Madness is Friday, May 20th for Grades 6-8. Let’s kick off summer with a Spring Fever Field Day! It’s going to be a wild night of water fights and COLOR WARS! Be sure to register, it’s FREE and space is limited, so pre-register soon. Visit www.valdezak.gov/register.
  • The CIVIC CENTER CINEMA invites you to “Fantastic Beasts the Secrets of Dumbledore” Rated “PG-13”, May 13-15. “Albus Dumbledore assigns Newt and his allies with a mission related to the rising power of Grindelwald.” Showings are Friday at 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm.
