  • Stop by the Rec Center or Pool and renew your Rec Pass for 2022 today!  It’s easy, just bring in your ID and proof of residency to either the Recreation Center or City Pool, and we’ll gladly renew you and your family’s Rec Pass for another year of free recreation fun! Don’t have a Rec Pass yet? Feel free to come on by with your ID and proof of residency to sign up, it only costs a few minutes of your time!
  • This week’s Fab Friday is at the Valdez Consortium Library for more fun and games! Registration is required. To view program details and register go to  www.valdezak.gov/register.
  • We are absolutely loving your photo submissions for the 2022 Valdez Trails Challenge! If you want to be one of our Featured Hikers on Facebook then hit the trails and take a pic with you and the Valdez Trails Challenge signs.   • Salmonberry Ski Hill’s projected 2022 season schedule is February 5 – March 27, Saturday & Sunday from 10:00am-4:00pm. This schedule is subject to change based on snow conditions, so check our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ValdezAlaskaFun for updates. Season Passes are available at the Recreation Center. We are still seeking volunteers, if interested please contact Bridget at BIrish@ValdezAK.gov to get started!
  • Ski and Snowboard Lessons are underway! Additional space has become available for ages 6-12, Level 2 Snowboard. For more information and to register visit www.ValdezAK.gov/register.
  • This Friday and Saturday is the Frosty Fever Family Fun with Valdez Parks & Recreation. Sledding & Smores is Friday from 6pm-8pm. Saturday from 4-6pm the Dive-In Movie at the Valdez City Pool!   • It’s time to vote for your favorite Moose in the Valdez Parks & Recreation Art Contest! Drop by the Rec Center this week, February 21-26, from 9am-7pm, and Saturday from noon to 7pm, to cast your vote for your favorite. There will be Prizes for the first, second and third place winners!
  • This Tuesday the 22nd is pickup for February’s Sensory Explorers TO-GO “Dino-Mite”! Get ready for an exciting excavation in your own home! This to-go program is designed for little ones, ages 2 – 6. Pre-registration is required. If you need to arrange contactless pick up or drop off call us at 907-835-4526.   • “Work together or die alone.” The Civic Center Cinema invites you to “The 355” Rated “PG-13” February 25-27. Showings are Friday at 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm. Tickets are available online or in person. Wanna become a Cinema Member? Visit www.valdezak.gov/563/Cinema-Membership-Program. All patrons are encouraged to wear a cloth mask while in the building unless seated in the theatre. We request that everyone who attends maintain a comfortable distance from others while in the building and spread out when taking their seats in the theatre. Seating is open again but please social distance. At the end of the film please leave your armrests down for cleaning and dispose of your containers to limit staff interaction with your items.
