  • Winter Programs are happening at the Valdez Library!   Visit valdezak.gov/library to check out the library’s calendar.
  • Remember to renew your Rec Pass for 2022 today!  It’s easy, just bring in your ID and proof of residency to either the Recreation Center or City Pool, and we’ll gladly renew you and your family’s Rec Pass for another year of free recreation fun!

  • Splish-splash on a Saturday morning with Water Aerobics Class!  Don’t miss it each Saturday from 10:00 am-11:00 am.  No Registration required!  For ages 15+.  Free with your Rec Pass!  Visit valdezak.gov/register for additional information.
  • “Let’s take a selfie,” during the 2022 Valdez Trails Challenge! Hit the trails and snap a pic with you and the Valdez Trails Challenge signs till March 31. You can submit your pic to ParksandRec@ValdezAk.gov or tag us on Facebook @ValdezAlaskaFun
  • Join the Recreation team TODAY! We’re looking to hire multiple positions for the recreation center, city pool, ski hill, gyms and programs. Have fun and enjoy a flexible work schedule all while giving back to your Community! Paid training is available for all positions!   • I hope you’ve rested your trigger finger because this Friday is the Nerf Wars session of Middle School Madness! If you need a break from taking down your friends there will be a movie and complementary snacks provided. Registration is FREE and space is limited, so be sure to pre-register soon.   • Registration for the Valdez Parks & Recreation Art Contest is now open, for ages 18 and up. Once registered stop by the Rec Center and pick up your wooden moose cutout. The cost is $20 per person, and there will be Prizes for the first, second and third place winners. Be sure to stop by the Rec Center from February 21-26 to vote for your favorite.
  • We’re all mad here for this month’s theme for Sensory Explorers TO-GO, Mad Science! This to-go program is designed for little ones, ages 2 – 6. Pre-registration is required. Registration ends January 23, and kits will be available for pick-up at the Recreation Center after 9am on January 25. If you need to arrange contactless pick up or drop off call us at 907-835-4526.   • The Civic Center Cinema invites you to ‘swing’ in for one last week of “Spider-Man No Way Home” Rated “PG-13” (January 14-16 and January 21-23) Showings are Friday at 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm. Tickets are available online or in person. All patrons are encouraged to wear a cloth mask while in the building unless seated in the theatre. We request that everyone who attends maintain a comfortable distance from others while in the building and spread out when taking their seats in the theatre. Seating is open again but please social distance. At the end of the film please leave your armrests down for cleaning and dispose of your containers to limit staff interaction with your items.
