Girdova Fungus Fest on KCHU Coffee Break

The Girdwood Fungus Fair and Cordova Fungus Festival join forces this year to bring us the Gird-dova Virtual Fungus Fest, a virtual event featuring some of the best fungi folks, classes, and experiences around. Shane Kimberlin interviews both Cathy Renfeldt, Executive Director for the Cordova Chamber of Commerce, and Kate Mohatt, forest service ecologist and president/co-founder of the Turnagain Arm Mycological Society. They discuss the challenges of putting on such an event during a pandemic, the variety of fungi in Alaska, the role of technology in connecting attendees, and much more. Along the way, Nikki Newcombe makes a surprise appearance and regales everyone with talks of mushroom pickling/marinating.
