Valdez Museum Reopens to Visitors on July 1st

Valdez, Alaska, June 25, 2020 –The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive on Egan Drive in downtown Valdez will reopen on July 1st, under new health guidelines that ensure a safe environment for visitors, volunteers and staff.

With the July 1st reopening visitors will experience the “new normal” necessary to ensure that our visitors have a safe and comfortable environment in which to enjoy their time at the Museum. We are following state and federal health guidelines outlined in a VMHA Board approved COVID-19 Mitigation Plan based upon science and directives from public health officials, medical experts plus Federal, State and Local governments. Some highlights include:

  • Plexiglas barrier at the front reception desk
  • Mandatory use of face masks or face coverings
  • Sign in log for contact tracing
  • Limited capacity to 20 visitors at a time
  • Museum Store limited to one visitor at a time
  • Sanitation Stations throughout the Museum
  • Strict adherence to 6-foot social distancing
  • A marked traffic flow pattern through the Museum

The Valdez Museum on Egan hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 12 Noon to 4 pm. Closed Monday.

The Valdez Museum on Hazelet is closed for the summer season.
