UPDATE (6:22pm): Preliminary investigation confirms the deceased include a 67-year old man, a 67-year old woman, and a 62-year old man. All three were visitors to Valdez. All three were found wearing life jackets. (Names and hometowns withheld pending next of kin notification.) The trio appear to have been paddling a single inflatable canoe type boat.
UPDATE (4:16pm): Valdez Police and Fire Departments have finished their work at Valdez Glacier Lake. Access to the lake is now open. Additional details to follow pending further investigation and next of kin notification.

Valdez, AK – Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded to a report of deceased kayakers in the water at the Valdez Glacier Lake on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 9:54 a.m., Valdez Fire and Police Dispatch received a report from an individual stating they had discovered what appeared to be two deceased individuals in Valdez Glacier Lake. VFD backcountry rescue team personnel and VPD officers responded to the scene. Three deceased kayakers were recovered from the water near the toe of the glacier.
Cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Access to Valdez Glacier Lake is closed until further notice.
