Despite cold and windy weather, the VHS Track and Field team continued their record-breaking streak this past weekend at the Palmer Invite.
Owen Chadwick broke the VHS record in the 200m last set in 2004 with a time of 23.02. Kassi Howard set a new VHS record in the 100m Hurdles with a finish time of 18.58 seconds, and the Boy’s 4X100 relay team of Hayden Howard, Kyler LaBonte, Jalen Freeman, and Owen Chadwick broke the previous record with a time of 46.05 seconds.
Other highlights of the weekend were a 1st place finish in High Jump for Kassi Howard with a with a 5 foot jump and a 3rd place High Jump finish for Kyler LaBonte with a jump of 5’8”. Owen Chadwick had a 4th place overall finish in the 100m with a time of 11.73, and in the 200m with a 23.02. Jeffrey Prevost had a new personal record in the 110m Hurdles with an 18.99 second run and the boy’s 4X200 relay team of Hayden Howard, Kyler LaBonte, Jalen Freeman, and Logan Anderson finished 5th overall with a tie of 1:38.42. Gaspar DeLeon had a new personal record Discus throw of 100’4”. Kylie Fletcher-Gilbert finished 5th overall in Long Jump with a 14’1” jump and Ambrosia Woodgate set a new personal record in Triple Jump with a 27’9.5” jump. Hunter Hoppe threw a new personal record in Discus with a 78’6” throw.
The 4X100 Thrower’s Relay (participants must have competed in Shot Put or Discus earlier in the season) of Brandon Nguyen, Wyatt Mehlberg, Gaspar DeLeon, and Luke Baczuk, established a new VHS record and had a 4th place overall finish.
