NEW ART EXHIBIT OPENING AT THE VALDEZ MUSEUM!
Planetary Alaska, Art by Erica Shirk
January 18 – March 8, 2019
Valdez based artist Erica Shirk presents a series of hand pulled woodblock prints produced through a reduction process, and a series of mono prints, single impressions of an image made from a re-printable block.
Shirk has a BS in Chemistry, a BS in Studio Art, and education certificates from the University of Denver. Both a visual artist and a scientist, she pairs the creative process with scientific investigation of natural phenomena.

In this exhibit Shirk has created a series of images that explore Alaska’s mountains and glaciers, both as geological features and as a millennia-long geological process.
Erica Shirk’s current work reflects her interest in both the concept of time and its passage.
The Opening Reception takes place at the Valdez Museum from 5 – 7 pm on
Friday, January 11, 2019. Free to the public and refreshments will be served.
