Sixth Annual Invasive Weed Smackdown July 14th

The Copper Basin Cooperative Weed Management Area will host the 6th Annual Weed Smackdown Volunteer Weed Pull Event on Saturday, July 14th, 10am-2pm.

This year this event is organized by the Copper River Watershed Project and sponsored by BLM, NPS and Copper Basin community members.
WHERE: Meet at the Child Advocacy Center Park and playground in Gakona,
Tok Cutoff, Mile 2. It’s a big open field on the south side of the road, just past the bridge.
WHY:
Help control white sweet clover along our local rivers and roadways. This invasive weed spreads quickly on roads and streams, chokes out native plants, and compromises wildlife habitat. Learn about invasive weeds, have some fun working alongside friends and neighbors, and enjoy a free cook-out.
Free Lunch!
Please come volunteer! If you are able we could also use help before and after the event to set up and break down.
If you are unable to get to Gakona on Saturday please consider spending some time this week pulling white sweet clover from your local areas. It’s in full bloom right now (see attached).
Let me know about your efforts so we can add it to our community Smackdown tally.
