NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

NOTICE OF EXPIRATION OF REDEMPTION PERIOD

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Alaska Statute 29.45.440 of expiration of redemption period for the below properties on which Judgment and Decree of Foreclosure was entered on July 26, 2017, in favor of the City of Cordova, for unpaid 2016 property taxes (Case No. 3AN-17-05293-CI).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE TIME IN WHICH SUCH PROPERTIES MAY BE REDEEMED WILL EXPIRE TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2018, AT 5 P.M.

If the delinquent 2016-year real property taxes and/or special assessments, along with penalties, interest, and costs, on the properties subject to the foregoing judgment are not redeemed prior to the expiration of the redemption period, then all properties ordered sold under the judgment, unless redeemed, shall be deeded to the municipality immediately on expiration of the period of redemption and every right or interest of a person in the properties will be forfeited forever to the City of Cordova. Redemption payments may be made at the office of the City Clerk and all amounts owing must be PAID IN FULL BY CASH, CASHIER’S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER made payable to the City of Cordova; personal checks will not be accepted.

On April 20, 2018, Cordova Police impounded a vehicle with the following description of license plate #GZZ556, Beige 2006 Chevy Malibu, Serial Number 1G1ZS53836F276431, at 401 Orca Avenue, Cordova, Alaska; the registered owner Gary Westmoreland died October 9, 2016, with no known next of kin.  Unless within 15 days of this notice, either: (a) the vehicle is removed and stored on a lawful manner, or (b) a person with an interest in the vehicle requests a hearing under Section 10.54.060, the city may without further notice dispose of the vehicle by sale, destruction, or other disposition authorized by law.

Permits are required for tie-ins to City water and sewer systems and for any excavation in/near the roadways.

Adams Avenue Construction

The Alaska Department of Transportation has prepared a Letter of Intent to award the Adams Avenue work to Wilson Construction. Once documents are submitted, approved, and signed mobilization will begin in late July or early August.

The project includes the reconstruction of utilities, sidewalks, and pavement; project duration is approximately 4-6 weeks depending on weather.

Detours around this work area will be in effect as the street will be 100% barricaded.  Traffic to the school and local businesses will be impacted.

Please be alert for changed traffic patterns.

Consulting Services for the Development of a BUILD (Formerly TIGER) Grant

The City of Cordova (City) requests written proposals from qualified consulting firms interested in providing services to the City to develop and submit a 2019 BUILD Grant Application for the Cordova South Harbor Dock Replacement Project.
