Wrangell Mountain Center Welcomes New ED

We are ecstatic to announce that Stefanie Tschappat will be joining the Wrangell Mountains Center team as the new Executive Director beginning this summer!  Stefanie is a long-time resident of Long Lake, just down the road from McCarthy.  Most recently, she has served as an educational programming specialist for the Prince William Sound Science Center, a non-profit organization with a staff of about 20, where she made a name for herself through developing, from scratch, new programs to connect local children with the science mission of the Science Center.  In her spare time, she is pursuing a masters degree in teaching from the distance learning program of the Univ. of Alaska Southeast.  Stefanie has also volunteered for 10 years with the WMC as part of our children’s programming staff, has operated and owned a small business, worked as a biological technician for Wrangell-St. Elias NP, guided outdoor trips, and worked on both the summit of Denali and the South Pole. We look forward to the skills, experience, and passion that Stefanie will bring to the WMC!
