Appointments fill vacancies on Anchorage District, Superior Court and Sitka Superior Court
February 12, 2018 JUNEAU – Governor Bill Walker today announced that he has filled three outstanding judicial vacancies. Governor appointed Jude Pate of Sitka to the Sitka Superior Court, Michael Logue of Anchorage to the Anchorage District Court, and Andrew Peterson of Anchorage to the Anchorage Superior Court.
“The people of Alaska are privileged to have a great wealth of legal talent in this state, and I am grateful for all the applicants that came forward,” Governor Walker said. “Serving in Alaska’s judicial branch requires deep knowledge of our laws, and great respect for the many different backgrounds and cultures in the Last Frontier. I am confident that Jude, Andrew, and Michael will serve Alaskans well, and make excellent additions to their respective court benches.”

Jude Pate has been an Alaska resident for 24 years. He was born in Germany, where his father was stationed in the Army, and moved to Sitka in 1993 after completing a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas, and a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law. Mr. Pate has served as an assistant public defender in Sitka since 2006, and has experience in all areas within the Superior Court’s jurisdiction. Prior to serving in the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Pate served as counsel to the Sitka Tribe of Alaska and held his own private practice. He and his wife have two children, and enjoy playing games, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Michael Logue was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has practiced law for over 3 decades, and has lived in Alaska since 1988. Mr. Logue received his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1986, and prior to moving to Alaska, served as a prosecutor in Brooklyn, New York. In 1990, he began practicing at what would become Gorton and Logue, where he handled civil and criminal cases as partner. In 2014, he became the supervising attorney at Denali Law Group. He lives in Anchorage.
Andrew Peterson is an Assistant Attorney General in the Anchorage Office of Special Prosecutions for the Department of Law. He has lived in Alaska for 21 years, and practiced law for 15. Mr. Peterson has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. Following law school, he worked as a civil litigator specializing in employment law in San Diego before returning to Alaska to serve in the District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Peterson has worked in the Office of Special Prosecutions since 2007, and also co-owns and operates a sport fishing guide service on the Kenai Peninsula. He, his wife, and their two children live in Anchorage.
