The Alaska Division of Forestry is asking residents in Interior and Southcentral Alaska to avoid burning for the next few days due to high winds and dry conditions in both regions. This includes burn barrels and open debris burning.
With no snow on the ground, conditions in both the Southcentral and Interior regions are extremely dry. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory throughout the Interior portion of the state from 10 a.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday. The forecast is calling for northeast winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. High winds are also forecast for the Southcentral region the next two days.
