Copper Center, AK – The Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Subsistence Resource Commission will meet at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Visitor Center in Copper Center (Mile 106.8 Richardson Highway) on Tuesday, October 11, and Wednesday, October 12, 2016, to consider a range of issues related to subsistence hunting and fishing in the park. This meeting was advertised in the Federal Register on September 16, 2016, and has been rescheduled to occur at the new dates and the new location described above to ensure a commission quorum.
Commission business will include an opportunity to comment on a proposal to change federal subsistence fishing regulations, an opportunity to comment on selected proposals to change State of Alaska wildlife harvest regulations for Unit 12, an update on backcountry and wilderness stewardship planning, and continued work on the subsistence plan. The meeting is open to the public, and public testimony opportunities are provided. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. Written comments may also be submitted through the park subsistence coordinator by Thursday, October 6, 2016, for presentation at the meeting.
The meeting will begin at 9 AM each day. On October 11, the meeting will recess for the day at approximately 5 PM, and on October 12, it will adjourn when business is completed. If the SRC completes its business on October 11, no meeting will take place on October 12.
