The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council (Council) will hold a board meeting in Cordova on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15-16, 2016. The meeting will be held at the Little Chapel located at 905 Lake Avenue. The tentative schedule is for the Thursday session to run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a community reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Cordova Center located at 130 Cordova Street. On Friday, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. Community reception and family outreach activities also planned.
Meetings are open to the public, except for executive sessions. Public comments are scheduled to be taken Thursday starting at 9:45 a.m.
On the agenda:
· A presentation by Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. and Edison Chouest Offshore on the plan to transition marine tanker escort and spill prevention and response services from Crowley to Edison Chouest Offshore. Edison Chouest Offshore representatives will provide background information on the company’s ability to design and operate vessels.
· Commissioner Larry Hartig will address the Council on current affairs within the State of Alaska’s Department of Environmental Conservation.
· Approval of a report that documents the presence of winter species in Prince William Sound. This report will help improve oil spill response plans for Prince William Sound.
· Approval of a report that will help improve the current monitoring protocol used to collect information about the effects of oil spill dispersants in Prince William Sound.

· A consultant’s presentation on potential ways to maximize oil recovered after a spill.
· Update on the repeal of a 40-year ban that led to the recent approval of foreign-flagged vessels to transport Alaska North Slope crude out of Prince William Sound.
· A report on oil spill drills and exercises monitored by the council during 2015.
The meeting agenda follows this news release, but is subject to change before or during the meeting. Council board meetings are routinely recorded, and may be disseminated to the public by the council or by the news media.
Also in conjunction with this meeting, in partnership with education partners the Prince William Sound Science Center and Copper River Watershed Project, is an afternoon of free fun and interactive oil spill prevention and response activities for the whole family taking place on Friday, September 16 from 3:30-5:30 in the commons at Mt. Eccles Elementary School.
