Noise Disturbance: A caller reported that their neighbor was doing construction or something and it was 1:00am. Officers talked to the neighbor who said they had been cutting firewood but were done for the night.
Oil Spill: Approximately 60,000 square feet of oil spilled into the water between the Small Boat Harbor and SERVS. The Department of Environmental Conservation, The US Coast Guard and Fire Department personnel were notified and the spill was taken care of.

ALICE Training: Officers conducted ALICE Training for about 25 people at a local business. To understand what ALICE is and learn more about it visit alicetraining.com.
Shoplifting: Garry Wilson, DOB: 01/02/66, of Valdez was charged with Theft in the 4th Degree when he stole over $70.00 in merchandise from a local store.
Traffic Complaint: A blue Dodge Charger was reported spinning its tires in front of a local business. This was not the first time this had happened with this car at the business. The suspect car had left the area when the officers arrived on scene.
Suspicious Person: Someone was reported to be seen possibly climbing through a window to a residence. Upon investigation officers discovered the individual had lost their key and were asking to be let in.

Theft: The theft of firewood from a lot off of Sawmill Dr. was reported some time in the last month. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact VPD @ 835-4560.
Assault: Joseph Madrigal, DOB: 05/09/73 of California was arrested on an Arrest Warrant for Assault 4th Degree after he assaulted someone on the dance floor at a local bar.
DV Assault: Kristi Kompkoff, DOB;10/26/74 of Valdez was arrested for DV Assault 4th Degree.

Noise Disturbance: A caller reported that the neighbors tv is very loud and has been the last 3 nights. Officers contacted the neighbor who agreed to keep it down.
Agency Assist: Officers responded to the Valdez Small Boat Harbor to assist with a boat fire at the south fuel dock.
Welfare Check: A report that a local man had not been seen at work for a few days and they were worried about him. Officers made contact with the subject who stated he hadn’t been feeling well but did not need any assistance.

DUI: Michael Moutoux, DOB;01/12/61 of Fairbanks was arrested for DUI after VPD received a request from the US Coast Guard for officer assistance with a possible intoxicated boater. Mr. Moutoux had a breath alcohol of .131.
Criminal Mischief: A report that all four tires on a vehicle on Eagle Ave. had been slashed. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact VPD @ 835-4560.
Traffic Complaint: A report of a red pick up that was driving recklessly through the construction area was received. The vehicle had left the area before officers could get on scene.
Traffic Complaint: A report of a new gray Dodge Charger doing a Burnout after the flagger released traffic to go through. Officers contacted the driver and discussed the incident.
Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a man without shoes or shirt on was out in the middle of the street yelling. The individual’s friend had him calmed down prior to the officer’s arrival.

Bar Disturbance: A local bar requested assistance with an unruly customer.
Bar Disturbance: A local bar requested assistance with an unruly customer who had returned after having been asked to leave earlier. The suspect customer agreed to leave when the officers arrived.
Bar Disturbance: A local bar requested assistance with 2 persons refusing to leave when the security staff would not let them in. Upon officers arrival the individuals agreed to leave.
Disorderly Conduct: Zachary Jacobs, DOB; 01/18/87 of Cordova was arrested for Disorderly Conduct when after being asked to leave a local bar numerous times. Mr. Jacobs was creating a disturbance on the sidewalk and refusing to return to fishing boat where he was staying.
Noise Disturbance: Officers responded to a local bar where the outside music was disturbing the guest of a nearby hotel. The employees turned the music down.

Public Drinking: Officers responded to the Dock Point picnic area for a report of two groups of people drinking alcohol. Officers explained to them they could not drink in a public park.
Traffic Complaint: VPD received a report of vehicles speeding on Atigun drive. Upon arrival of officers there were no vehicles in the area. The Valdez Police Department would like to remind everyone that Atigun Dr. is a 20 MPH zone and a lot of people walk their dogs and take their families for walks in the area so please drive accordingly.
Traffic Complaint: A report of two sports cars, one metallic blue and one metallic gray, racing side by side at a high rate of speed on the Richardson Hwy near Dylan Dr. Officers conducted interviews with the suspect drivers.
Drug Disposal: The Valdez Police Department disposed of approximately 40 pounds of prescription drugs that had been turned in to VPD in the ongoing drug Turn in program. If anyone has old or no longer needed medications they can bring them to the Valdez Police Department and drop them in the drug receptacle located in the City Hall Lobby.
The Valdez Police Dept. and Animal Control received 9 bear calls this week.
