Valdez residents have long wanted a café; a place to chill out, possibly surf the net, have a special beverage and a healthy bite to eat. As of February 18th, they have one. Wild Razzberry serves French press, pour-over coffees, fine teas, smoothies, sandwiches, salad and udon bowls in a cozy environment enlivened by the work of local artists and crafters for customers to enjoy as well as purchase.
“The reason I decided to do it is because in Valdez there are a lot of empty spaces. This one had been vacant for a year, so I got creative. I brainstormed on what I could do with what I already had and on a shoestring. I came up with a restaurant that would work without a full kitchen. That led to the special coffees and teas and a light menu in a comfy space where a person can sit and read a book or work on their laptop over lunch or an afternoon tea. I’m aiming at a healthier menu and will offer more raw foods in the summer.” Karen Ables, Owner

Wild Razzberry will also be hosting a Saturday Market where crafters and home-based businesses can rent a table and sell their wares. It will be held inside the café until the weather is better.
